For Father's Day, my sister and I wanted to do something special for my dad. My family loves playing games together and one of my dad's favorites is SongBurst, a finish-the-lyrics card game. The version we own only includes songs from the 70's and 80's, but we wanted to expand this to include songs from the 60's all the way to the 2020's. We produced 40 cards for each decade, hand-selecting songs that our dad hopefully knows and then we recorded snippets from each song as a lead-in for the lyrics.
For the card backs' design, I selected different photos of my dad from each decade the card represented. I wanted the game to be completely custom and unique to him. I made sure to include loved ones and important events in his life. I created white outlines around the people in the photos to give a nostalgic, sticker-feel. I wanted a groovier logo as an homage to the original SongBurst and because 70's and 80's music are my dad's sweet spot.
